Japan Underground 16.05.12 at the Hare & Hounds

The popular Japan Underground hits Birmingham with a three band extravaganza at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath on the 16th May.

For me, The Major Toms are more than just a covers band. Steeped in Birmingham’s pop from the 80’s up to the 00’s, the eight-piece supergroup are a celebration of the second cities’ thriving past and present music scenes.

Record Store Day 2011

This Saturday is Record Store Day 2011, and to mark this annual celebration, Speech Fewapy records are gonna be holding two special in-store afternoon gigs. Head to Swordfish Records (Temple Street, Birmingham) or Polar Bear Records (York Road, Kings Heath) or both! and grab a space in the crowd for an absolute treat of a line-up.

Benjamin Vaughan

It’s never easy to start your own business, and it’s even harder to launch one at the height of a recession. But as one Birmingham entrepreneur shows, with a lot of blood sweat and tears, you can be successful. At just 25 Benjamin Vaughan is one of the countries youngest tailor’s having recently launched Benjamin’s Bespoke Shirt Makers and Tailors. Area caught up with Birmingham’s own “Benjamin Button” to find out more about his plans to become a tailor made success.
