On 31st May, Rosie Kay Dance Company presents a charity performance of 5 Soldiers. Raising funds for charities: Care for Casualties, Help for Heroes, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity and The Royal British Legion, the thought-provoking and controversial company explore war in modern times, created after an intense period of research with The 4th Battalion, The Rifles.
Playing a pivotal role in the medical care and rehabilitation of injured soldiers, Birmingham is also the company’s home, where their work was researched and constructed.
In May 2010, 5 Soldiers premiered at the International Dance Festival, Birmingham. With a follow-up international tour, the company returns home for the last performance.
The company has been highly praised by serving and former members of the British Army:
“5 SOLDIERS is a brilliant production; the interpretation of the highs and lows of a soldier’s life is excellent and very thought provoking.” – Brigadier Stephen Hodder, Commander 43 (Wessex) Brigade, Tidworth.
