A Slice of Fela

20 November 4.30pm

£6.50 (£4.50 concs)

Fela Anikulapo Kuti was a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist musician and composer, pioneer of afrobeat, human-rights activist and political maverick.

On 20th November, as part of the Fela and Me tour, mac and Punch will be hosting a screening of A Slice of Fela, a documentary based on the life and music of this extraordinary musical and political trail-blazer.

The film comprises a series of excerpts from documentaries and recorded concerts, and each section is introduced by Sahr Ngaujah, who plays the man himself in the Tony Award-winning musical FELA!, the Broadway hit coming soon to the Royal National Theatre in London.

The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with a panel including Rikki Stein, Fela’s friend and manager for the last 14 years of his life, and there’ll be a DJ in the Bridges Cafe Bar from 6pm.
