On Sunday 3rd October prepare to experience a unique music experience as Oxjam take over the Number 11 bus route for a month long music festival, with further live music events taking place throughout October in 30 cities to raise money for the charity Oxfam.
Passengers are in for a truly different bus journey as they board the number 11 at the Hare and Hounds for a full lap of Europe’s longest urban bus route. During this ride, passengers are not only set to visit some of the most interesting neighborhoods in Birmingham but also in store for an eclectic mix spanning across generations and genres.
Alongside our 11 en-route stops, we will also be stopping mid route at The Bear in Bearwood for a couple of drinks and more fantastic live music from a local band before heading back to the Hare & Hounds for a Sunday lunch with a soulful twist from the Soul Food Project.
The Number 11’s deep history has lead to many publications being made about it including a calendar, a book and a dedicated blog. With this fantastic history and fantastic entertainment, Simarjeet Kaur, Oxjabrum fundraising manager further explains why you should join us on board:
‘The 11 bus route is infamous in Birmingham and we wanted OxjamBrum to be part of that legend, while being entertained by some of Birmingham’s most talented. The Green Bus was the obvious choice, as the most environmentally focused of Birmingham’s buses, and we wanted to promote the idea of sustainable travel and Oxfam’s campaigns about climate change. We are all very passionate about being green and encouraging others to do the same.”
OxjamBrum’s sponsor GotSeeN.com will be streaming all the journeys live music through their website, meaning everyone, anywhere, can have some experience of this fantastic event, proving that Birmingham has more to it than chocolate factories and Jasper Carrot!
