John Waters story of  a big girl with big hair, and an even bigger heart, has been drawing huge audiences since it turned from film to stage in 2007 in the UK.

The story follows Tracy Turnblad as she wins a spot on the local TV dance programme, The Corny Collins Show and, overnight, is transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity.  But can a trendsetting hair-hopper like Tracy get her massively shy Mom out of the apartment, beat evil Amber to be crowned Miss Hairspray, integrate Corny’s show for good AND win the heart of local heartthrob Link Larkin, all without denting her ‘do?

The 3 week Wolverhampton stint of this massively popular hit stars entertainer Brian Conley as Edna Turnblad (Tracy’s larger than life laundry-loving mother)  and comedian and actor Les Dennis as Wilbur Turnblad (Tracys Joke Shop owning father).

The Theatre will also host free ‘Hairspray Days’: Hairspray Day: Friday 4 June from 11am-3pm at Wolverhampton Art Gallery
