Cannon Hill Park, Edgbaston, Birmingham
opens 1 May
For regular visitors to Birmingham’s beautiful Cannon Hill Park an integral part of the landscape has been missing. For the past two years the 1960’s structure that houses mac has been rebuilt and transformed as part of a £15m expansion and refurbishment project.
Finally the wait is over and on the 1st May the shiny new centre will be unveiled over the May Bank Holiday Weekend with a number of free shows and performances. Visitors will get to see the new theatre space, a brand new performing arts studio and visual arts exhibiting space. The building has been brought entirely up-to-date and includes the ability to transmit performances live.
For the opening weekend there will be performances by Misty’s Big Adventure and Vijay Kashore, whilst sampad present United Colours of Dance as part of Birmingham International Dance Festival. In addition, there will be guided tours around the building, a variety of workshops, audio trails as part of the Amplifying the Map project, DJs and much more.
mac’s summer programme will go on sale later this month via the new website and Sales and Information Line on 0121 446 3232.
