Brilliantly Birmingham Christmas Pop Up Shop

Brilliantly Birmingham, the jewellery festival which is now in its tenth year, will be opening an exclusive temporary boutique from Saturday 5 December till Christmas Eve.

The pop-up shop, opening in the Pavilions shopping centre, is a great opportunity for Christmas shoppers to meet local designers and buy hand crafted jewellery, or even commission a bespoke piece for a special Christmas present.

Some of the designers selling their work in the Pavilions include designers from Design Space, an incubation scheme in the Jewellery Quarter which was set up by Birmingham City Council to support new talent in the area.

Another exhibition opening to coincide with Brilliantly Birmingham includes “Scenes from a Commission”, a behind the scenes look at the commission and design process behind Sara Preisler’s latest range of jewellery which was inspired by a current exhibition at Amsterdam’s Van Gogh museum. The exhibition will run at the Custard Factory from 1 December.

Sara Preisler, a local designer whose clients include the Royal Shakespeare Company, was asked by the museum’s curators to produce a range to commemorate the exhibition of letters that Van Gogh sent to his brother shortly before his death.

You can buy pieces from the range, which include cufflinks and rings for men inscribed with Van Gogh’s hand writing, at Preisler’s gallery in the Custard Factory, also from 1 December. Pieces begin at £70.

Brilliantly Birmingham is running from 21 November until 28 February. For more information visit www.brilliantlybirmingham.com
