Brilliantly Birmingham, the celebration of contemporary jewellery, will be marking it’s 10th Anniversary this year. The annual event, which launches on 21 November, has grown into an international festival which draws people from all over the world.
The festival helps launch up and coming designers from the local area showcasing their work and this years featured designer, Mikaela Lyons, is a recent MA graduate from the Birmingham School of Jewellery who produces colourful and theatrical pieces. There will be opportunities to explore the Jewellery Quarter with “Walks in the Quarter” and open workshops where you can see firsthand the work of the jewellers and designers.
There’ll also be chances to make some purchases at selling exhibitions held at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. A Tenth Anniversary Retrospective will look at the work of seven designers which have featured prominently in previous years and FLUX will feature work from new and emerging designers. Brilliantly Birmingham runs till 28 February 2010.
